Tool to create a polar loads chart for crane operations
For some specific ships equipped for crane operations, it's required to verify some intact stability criteria related to the maximum heeling angle of the ship and minimum freeboard margin when the crane operates at its maximum outreach and hook load. I see that some software houses have a tool/application that, for a fixed loading condition and having as input the crane pedestal position on deck, the cog of the extended crane and the hook load value/position, allows to verify those criteria for each slew angle of the crane (for instance, starting from 0°to 350° with 10° step each position), giving a polar chart and a results listing format.
If some position doesn't fulfill the criteria, the hook load must be reduced to fulfil it and such reduction for that position is reported on the polar chart and results list.
As I see for now, doing this in Napa without this application means creating as many loading conditions as the slewing steps are, so it is really a massive and unpractical job.
It would be nice if this tool could be introduced into Napa too, maybe as application within the loading conditions user interface.
